Prints For Newborn Photography

Prints are a popular print product for parents who want photos of their baby. These are typically purchased as alternatives to Albums & Books.

A benefit of Prints over Albums & Books is that if your newborn package is designed around a small number of photos then prints can be easier to sell. As an example, with an album or book at Zno, you typically need at least eight images for the minimum number of eight spreads. So if you want to sell only five images, there isn’t really a way to accommodate this. But by contrast, with prints you can sell as little as one printed image.

Another reason some photographers prefer prints over Albums & Books is because you’re not locked into a single orientation. With an album or book, you must commit to an orientation (landscape, portrait, square) and then adapt images into that page orientation. This works great if all your images are only portraits or only landscapes. But if they are a mix of portraits and landscapes then you’ll need to shrink some images. And this means you can end up with a lot of white space. By contrast, prints are always the optimal size.

Lastly the primary reason for going with an album is to sequence photos into a storyline. In the case of wedding photography, there are clearly established events that build upon each other. But in newborn photography, this isn’t the case as much. A photo shoot is mostly based around different poses and outfits, so the sequence of photos is not as important. This means that it may not make sense to invest the extra time in designing a narrative sequence in an album when there isn’t really one to begin with.

Loose Canvas Print

Loose Canvas Prints are printed with a Giclée 12-color pigment based printing process. They differ from all other prints by being printed directly onto canvas rather than photo paper. This is a great printing option for newborn photographers who like the look of Canvas Gallery Wraps but who want the form factor of a small print. All Loose Canvas Prints can be printed with or without backing.

Flush Mount Print

Zno Estore, which is a feature in Zno Gallery, allows you to sell Zno print products directly to newborn customers and collect payment. This is referred to as “automatic fulfillment” because Zno will print and ship the product for you. Zno has a 0% commission fee even on the free plan, which is rare. This feature is available in the Zno Gallery Free Plan.

Self Fulfillment Through Zno Estore

Zno Estore, which is a feature in Zno Gallery, also allows you to sell third party lab print products directly to newborn customers and collect payment. This is referred to as “self fulfillment” because Zno will not print and ship the product for you. For self fulfilled products, you need to manually place an order with your third party lab. Zno has a 0% commission fee even on the free plan, which is rare. This feature is available in the Zno Gallery Free Plan.

With the Generic Catalog you can create a customizable online brand free catalog of Zno products to share with newborn clients. "Zno" doesn't appear anywhere and prices can be fully adjusted. The catalog is free to all Zno Pro Benefits members. This catalog can be thought of as a more feature limited version of Zno Estore. It’s an ideal solution for newborn photographers who don’t yet feel the need for a full online store experience.
